Throughout 2020 the entire Fortnite competitive scene has been online only, with the pandemic stopping any major events taking place. After the success of the 2019 World Cup, it looked like the competitive scene was on track to explode into the mainstream world, but that hasn’t quite happened this year. However, Fish is not worried at all, and is sure things will be back to normal soon enough. 

“Right now, my focus is to win the FNCS tournaments in 2021 and ultimately to win the World Cup in 2022,” said Fish. “It is certainly disappointing that there have been no major LAN events and that there will be no World Cup in 2021. Fortnite itself is mainly played online so that has not been affected but being able to meet up with other pro players and compete against players from different regions has had an impact on the Fortnite pro scene. It will be good to be able to travel again.” 

While mainstream interest in the pro-Fortnite scene may have waned a little since the World Cup, the game itself is still growing massively and as a result, the pro scene is still doing well. More and more people are competing and Epic is putting a lot of effort into keeping pros happy. 

“Fortnite has already expanded its audience over the last year with five times as many players competing in Week 1 of Trios FNCS Ch 2 Season 4 compared to Season X,” said Fish. “There is no reason why it can't continue to grow. I think communication is one of the key factors and knowing what tournaments are being planned. Epic has improved this, we already know that next year is going to be FNCS Trios as the main platform for the entire year and that there will not be a World Cup 2021 held.”

Fish is looking forward to the future, setting his sights on the 2022 World Cup and focusing entirely on competing and creating content. But as such a big star he has a lot of other opportunities, which is why he has signed with the Loaded management company, that will manage the key aspects of his career including entertainment opportunities, sponsorships, media licensing, merchandising, book publishing, partnerships, appearances and more.

“I was approached by several agencies looking to represent me, but decided that Loaded was the best fit for my brand and aligned with my goals for the future,” said Fish. “I felt that Loaded had a different focus to the other agencies and had a team of people that can help me explore different opportunities. I have also spoken to some of the other streamers and players that they look after and got very positive feedback.” 

With a new agency behind him, a focus on his own play and a growing competitive scene Fish looks set to continue to be a megastar in the Fortnite scene. With no World Cup in 2021, it will be interesting to see how pro Fortnite grows, but there is no doubt that when the next World Cup does roll around Fish will once again be up there with the best of them.
